A few years later, the concept of foldable phones still feels novel. As new products come to market, they continue to improve and solve some of the biggest problems. All of this has made today’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is not only a huge improvement over its predecessor, but arguably the best foldable phone most people can buy right now.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 mobile phone battery
Capacity and design
Estimated capacity: Dual battery design (continuing the Fold series tradition): main battery (right side of the body): ~2,800mAh–3,000mAh, secondary battery (left side of the body): ~1,800mAh–2,000mAh Total capacity: 4,600mAh–5,000mAh (basically the same as Fold 6, with a possible slight increase of 5%).
Reason: Folding screen phones have limited internal space, and significantly increasing capacity requires sacrificing thickness/weight.
Samsung prefers to improve battery life through chip energy efficiency optimization (such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4/Exynos 2500).
Galaxy Z Fold 7 Smartphone BatteryTechnology: Graphene heat dissipation layer (improves heating issues during fast charging). Higher energy density cells (80% capacity after 800 cycles).
Samsung is understandably hesitant to adopt new battery technology – especially with the tenth anniversary of the Galaxy Note 7 disaster approaching – so cramming the same size battery into a device that is more than 25% thinner is good. But to say that it is good enough is another question entirely
Thinnest form factor, best fit and finish The fit and finish of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is almost perfect, thanks in large part to its slimness.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is basically as thick as a standard smartphone, measuring 8.9mm when closed.
The only glaring issue is the lack of full dust resistance, but even that has been improved this year by Samsung with an IP48 rating – water resistance includes immersion in water, but only protection against larger dust/debris.
The biggest issue I had with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was theGalaxy Z Fold 7 Smartphone Battery
, which is actually much better than it sounds at first glance
Samsung was faced with a choice with this device. The company could either find a way to increase theGalaxy Z Fold 7 batterycapacity, or go all out to make the device thinner without sacrificing battery capacity. They chose the latter, and it worked. The Fold 7 has the same 4,400 mAh battery as its predecessors, which is more than adequate. Most of the time, I was able to get through a full day without over-depleting the 15% battery in power saving mode. Most days, I was getting 4-5 hours of screen time per day, and the phone was at 15-20% before bed (usually around 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.).
While thisGalaxy Z Fold 7 Smartphone Batterylife is not great for 2025, it is certainly the best option in a bad situation.
Both of the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s displays are bigger than before. The outer screen is now 6.5 inches, with an aspect ratio roughly the same as a standard smartphone. That said, the days of the Galaxy Fold’s ultra-narrow outer screen are over. The cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are good enough.
Samsung has bridged the gap by putting its best main camera on its most expensive smartphone yet. The 200-megapixel main camera is the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and is powered by the same hardware, which means the overall experience is excellent. Video capture is also solid, as Samsung’s flagship phones have been for some time.
