Sennheiser has released a new entry-level open-back headphone. The latest headphone is called the Sennheiser HD550 headphone, and from the outside, it has a lot in common with the HD 505 Copper Edition released early last month. Like the latter, the new HD 550 is also equipped with a 38mm dynamic unit. However, its frequency response is slightly wider, at 6Hz – 39.5Hz (rather than 12Hz – 38.5kHz), and its impedance is slightly higher.

The Sennheiser HD 505 is a head-worn wireless headphone, but according to public information, Sennheiser has not officially launched a model named HD 505, which may cause confusion with model names (such as HD 450BT, HD 350BT and other similar models).

If your headphones are indeed wireless and need to be powered, here are some possible solutions: 1. Wirelessheadphone battery problem Built-in rechargeable battery: Most modern Sennheiser wireless headphones (such as HD 450BT, HD 350BT) use built-in lithium batteries, which are charged via USB-C or Micro-USB, and the battery cannot be replaced directly. Battery life: Usually 20-30 hours (depending on the model and usage). Aging: If the battery life decreases significantly, you may need to contact after-sales to replace the Sennheiser HD550 headphone battery. The HD 550 adopts an open design and the sound quality is more transparent. Although the appearance is very similar to the HD 505, we noticed a difference, that is, the filter covering the unit. How this will affect its sound quality is worth looking forward to. The frequency response of the transducer ranges from 12Hz to 38.5kHz, and the total harmonic distortion (THD) is less than 0.2%. They are mounted on the chassis at a certain angle to simulate the effect of a pair of speakers, so as to obtain a wider sound field.

Sennheiser claims the HD 505s have a balanced sound quality of “powerful bass, smooth mids and pleasant highs”, and we’re very much looking forward to trying them out. The HD 505s follow the design aesthetic of the rest of the HD 500 series, with a synthetic leather headband, velvet ear pads and metal mesh ear cups. They weigh just 237g.
