As a result, the first generation of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme featured specifications close to those of the Dell XPS 15 9570 at the time, with some added business features. On the other hand, we see a slight step back in the keyboard, which loses a bit of its distinctive “ThinkPad feel” due to its reduced travel. A specific issue with the 4K touch configuration we reviewed is the subpar battery life. Even the larger battery doesn’t help due to the high power consumption. Another point of criticism: the fan can get quite loud under load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, we can give the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 a clear recommendation, and it also achieves very good scores. However, only users who truly need touch functionality or a digital pen should opt for the WQUXGA touchscreen. This advice also applies to models without a vapor chamber, as Lenovo resolved the ThinkPad P1 Gen 4’s CPU performance issues with a firmware update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the Dell XPS 15 and Dell XPS 17, the X1 Extreme Gen 4 is particularly compelling due to its better connectivity.
