Apple has launched the Brydge keyboard for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. But this is the company’s latest design, sized for the slightly larger 10.5-inch iPad Pro. You’ll notice that the aluminum Brydge feels very solid in the hand. It’s also fairly light, just 50 grams heavier than the iPad Pro itself, and the hinge is sturdy and has just the right amount of tension, allowing the keyboard to snap perfectly into place when closed. Due to the hinge design, the Brydge doesn’t come with a Smart Connector. This means that the keyboard communicates with the iPad via Bluetooth, which requires the device itself to be equipped with\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A USB to micro-USB charging cable is included in the box, but you’ll need to bring your own power bank if you want to charge from a wall socket. The keys reminded me of the keyboard on the MacBook Air, which has smaller keys than Apple’s latest MacBooks. The backlight button can be switched between four brightness settings: off, low, medium, and high. The hinge is very sturdy and there is no wobble when typing. The keys feel good, but I definitely prefer the smoother key feel of the 2016 MacBook Pro. The keyboard and iPad Pro combination is very comfortable to carry and looks simple and stylish. The Smart Keyboard is thinner and more portable because it doesn’t need to be held in the hand, but we have to admit that the Brydge keyboard feels more solid and has a more ergonomic adjustable viewing angle. All in all, the Brydge keyboard has an impressive build quality, a sturdy and smooth hinge, and a minimalist design that sits perfectly flush. The keys aren’t flawless, but all the shortcuts and controls are smooth, and the key backlighting is bright and clear. Right now, the Brydgeis probably the closest thing to a MacBook keyboard experience you’ll get on an iPad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
