The latest Surface Laptop 7 (7th Gen), designed to compete with Apple&#8217;s MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, is arguably the best display of Microsoft&#8217;s engineering prowess &#8211; the tech giant certainly knows how to make good hardware when it&#8217;s firing on all cylinders. Microsoft says the screens are individually calibrated for accuracy, and they also support Dolby Vision. It also has a dynamic refresh rate feature, so the display can boost to 120Hz for smoother gaming and video playback, or drop to 60Hz to save<a href=\"https:\/\/www.batteriesfast.co.uk\/laptop-battery\/Microsoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.batteriesfast.co.uk\/laptop-battery\/Microsoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><u>Surface Laptop 7 Battery<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.batteriesfast.co.uk\/laptop-battery\/Microsoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The display showed impressive brightness and good colors while watching Netflix shows and editing photos, although at this price, I would have expected it to be an OLED display. On the audio side, the speakers performed well enough for Zoom calls.<strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.batteriesfast.co.uk\/laptop-battery\/Microsoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Surface Laptop 7 Battery<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Battery Life and Real-World Performance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In my battery and productivity performance tests using UL Solution&#8217;s Procyon (the only real-world office productivity benchmarking tool for non-x86 chips), the Surface Laptop 7 performed well against the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and Dell XPS 13 (2024) I&#8217;ve tested. While 16GB is enough for most productivity tasks, I&#8217;d recommend the 32GB option if you plan to use the laptop for some content creation work. There&#8217;s no option to upgrade just the RAM. The main selling point of the Surface Laptop 7 is its amazing&nbsp;<strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.batteriesfast.co.uk\/laptop-battery\/Microsoft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Surface Laptop 7 Battery<\/a><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Battery life, which reached an unprecedented 22 hours and 30 minutes in our Microsoft Office test and more than 15 hours in our video loop benchmark. Microsoft&#8217;s claim of 22 hours of battery life is definitely not a joke. It&#8217;s very impressive and a record for our lab. Of course, it&#8217;s worth noting that it uses an LCD panel, not the more power-hungry OLED.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The all-metal chassis has a really nice premium feel to it, and the battery life is excellent. This is a great showcase for the Windows-on-ARM platform after years of failure, and I can imagine that subsequent generations of Snapdragon X chips will be a more serious threat to Intel and AMD&#8217;s mobile platforms.
